Pranayamas are yogic breathing techniques that purify body and mind. When the physical systems function in harmony the mind can be still. And like the still surface of a lake the mind as well becomes a clear surface to see to the ground and true nature of self

“Just as one gradually tames a lion, an elephant or a tiger, so the breath must be slowly brought under control. Otherwise it harms the practitioner.

When prānāyāmas are practiced properly they remove all diseases, but improper practice generates diseases.”

-Hathapradīpikā 2.15 -16

Pranayama is an essential and often overlooked hatha yoga discipline. Pranayama has the potential to create physical and mental health and is the doorway to deep meditation.

Careful and clear instruction is necessary for success in pranayama.

Lea Asj provides such instruction for beginner, inermediate and advanced pranayama students. Her courses and classes are grounded in traditional hatha yoga scriptures, modern science, and personal experience of herself and her teachers.
